Patch 4.3.2 Notes Updated

Correction eliminates Raid Finder loot duplicates

So you go into the raid finder. After about 45 minutes of wiping the floor with the bosses, two tier shoulder tokens drop. So you roll on both to double your chances. Next thing you know, you have two in your bags, and the last druid already left town.

Soon after the raid finder was released, Blizzard implemented a need bonus to loot rolls based upon role. This allowed players who needed the gear most to have a higher roll than that healer who really wants DPS gear.

Today, Kaivax announced via Twitter that there was an update to the Patch 4.3.2 notes correcting a situation where a player would obtain duplicates of the same item. Below, we have quoted the change as found on the World of Warcraft Community site:

Players no longer benefit from a role-based need bonus on the second of multiple copies of the same item on a single Raid Finder boss kill. For example, a player who chooses Need on two set piece tokens or two weapons (and wins the first) will only automatically roll 1-100 for the second from that particular boss.

Blizzard Announces Battle.Net Balance

Yesterday, Blizzard unveiled a new program to allow players to purchase games and services. Called "Battle.Net Balance", this program allows players to add to their balance using a variety of payment methods. This non-refundable balance can then be used at the Blizzard Store to purchase games and game time.

Quoting Blizzard's Announcement:

Battle.net Balance is now live! As we announced previously, Battle.net Balance is a new feature that gives players an alternate way to purchase Blizzard digital products and services directly through their Battle.net accounts. Players are now able add to their Battle.net Balance using a variety of payment methods, and then use that balance toward Blizzard Entertainment products and services such as World of Warcraft game time; paid services, such as realm transfers and character name changes; digital versions of select Blizzard games, including Diablo II and StarCraft II; and in-game pets and mounts. In the near future, players will be also able to use Battle.net Balance for the digital World of Warcraft Battle Chest and WoW digital upgrades. In addition, with the upcoming launch of Diablo III, players will have the option to use Battle.net Balance to buy and sell items in the game’s currency-based auction house.

World of Warcraft Patch 4.3.2

Magelo sync has been updated!

Today, patch 4.3.2 was implemented on all realms! Below you'll find the official patch notes, as found on the World of Warcraft Community Website:

Classes: General

Vengeance is no longer triggered by receiving damage from other players.

Druids

The Tier 13 Balance Druid 4-piece bonus now also increases the damage of Starsurge by 10%, in addition to its current effect.

Hunters

Aspect of the Hawk now grants roughly 35% more attack power.
Deterrence now also reduces damage taken by 30% while active.
Black Arrow now ticks every 2 seconds for 20 seconds, as opposed to every 3 seconds for 15 seconds. The total damage dealt by the ability is unchanged.
Lock and Load no longer benefits Arcane Shot, nor is it consumed by Arcane Shot.

Mages

Fireball damage has been reduced by roughly 6%.
Pyroblast initial damage has been reduced by roughly 6%. Damage over time is unchanged.

Paladins

Holy Radiance now costs 40% of base mana, up from 35%.

Priests

Mass Dispel should again prefer dispelling targets that have magic effects that can be dispelled.

Rogues

Adrenaline Rush no longer triggers a global cooldown.

Dungeons & Raids

You can now form same-faction raids with Real ID friends, allowing you to enter Raid Finder in groups larger than 5, run older normal or heroic raids, or participate in Battlegrounds. You will not yet be able to run normal or heroic Dragon Soul with cross-realm raids of Real ID friends.
Several typo fixes and clarified descriptions have been added to the Dungeon Journal entries for Dragon Soul.
Players can no longer win multiple copies of the same item on a single Raid Finder boss kill. For example, a player who chooses Need on two set piece tokens or two weapons and wins the first, will not be eligible for the second on that particular boss.

- Fixed a bug that caused the Mature Language Filter to reset on exit.

BlizzCon 2012 Cancelled

Annual conference suspended until 2013

For five years, Blizzard has held an annual conference celebrating the achievements of the company and highlighting releases for Diablo, World of Warcraft and Starcraft.

Held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim CA, attendees were awed by announcements of future releases, a gallery of the history of Blizzard, live events, and famous performers. Last year's conference featured the Foo Fighters and revealed the Mists of Pandria expansion for World of Warcraft.

Wednesday, Blizzard posted on the BlizzCon Official Site that there will be no BlizzCon in 2012.

Bashiok confirms

Bashiok confirmed the reports with his own personal statement on the World of Warcraft Community Forums:

"Yeah it's a bit disappointing because we all really do enjoy being able to 'open the doors' so to speak. But, it is an enormous effort by all employees, including our game designers and artists, not to mention customer support and quality assurance, PR, our business departments, and hot breath on fingernails & shirt rub Community & eSports to make a BlizzCon happen. In a year when we're working to release multiple titles (knock on wood) it makes sense to focus our efforts. Also with multiple game releases we just wonder if we'd be at a point with any of them where we'd have anything really big or new or cool to talk about.

We didn't have a BlizzCon in 2006 either, and at that time we were really strong on the idea that BlizzCon isn't really supposed to be and doesn't have to be an annual event. Of course then we have it for five straight years in a row... which obviously built some expectation.

Personally I always enjoy seeing the excitement, the rushing crowds, hearing the clicking of mice on the demo stations, and waiting in agony as the seconds countdown to an announcement and then the waves of emotion from the crowd that follow it. But thinking about our year and what we're trying to get done already without a BlizzCon, and having to think pretty hard about what we'd have to announce or demo, it just makes sense to me not to have one.

Here's to the Battle.net World Championship, it's going to be awesome, and to a bigger and better BlizzCon in 2013."

Blizzard Sells Server Blades for Charity

Former EU servers being auctioned for St. Jude's

Recently, all World of Warcraft servers saw hardware upgrades to improve player performance. So what happens to all that old hardware? Today, Blizzard released that it is auctioning server blades and donating the proceeds to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Quoting Blizzard's official press release:

For a time, these servers were doorways into a universe of magic, mystery, and unlimited adventure. People vanquished mighty foes, they formed bonds of friendship, and some even found love in the game worlds that ran on these servers. If you listen closely on a starry night, you can still hear the ghosts of the past running through their circuit boards, recounting tales of epic conquest.

What is being auctioned?

Being auctioned are the HP p-Class server blades. For those who are unfamiliar with a server blade, it is literally a self-contained server, which collectively fits into an enclosure with other blades. For this round, Blizzard is auctioning it's former EU servers.

Who is St. Jude?

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®, founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, is one of the world's premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. The survival rate for the most common form of childhood cancer, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, has risen from just 4 percent in 1962 to 94 percent today.

Battle.Net Servers Down

Update (Jan 19):

At 1:30pm Pacific Time, all Battle.net and World of Warcraft servers were verified to be online. No word yet as to the cause of the outage, though we will bring you more details if they are released.

Original Coverage:

Today at approximately 1pm PST, all Blizzard Entertainment servers, including World of Warcraft gameplay servers and Battle.net services, went offline. There is no word as to what has caused the outage or when services will be back online.

Blizzard Customer service issued the following on their Official Twitter account:

We are aware that Battlenet is currently down. Our Realm Technicians are looking into the issue - more information as it becomes available.

We will bring you more updates as they are available.

Blizzard Implements Dragon Soul Difficulty Changes

Today, Blizzard posted Dragon Soul difficulty changes. Amongst these changes include a 5% damage reduction buff which also reduces enemy NPC health. Blizzard stated that the buff will scale over time to increase accessibility of the content.

Quoting from the original post:

For those of you who raided in Firelands and/or Icecrown you’re no doubt aware that as time goes on we want to keep people progressing by adjusting the difficulty. For any number of reasons a group may be having difficulty on a specific encounter each week, and our intent in adjusting the content is to ensure the ability to keep progressing, enjoying the content, and gearing up. With Icecrown we progressively buffed the players, and while this slow progression (and ability to opt-out of the buff) were both beneficial, it led to an expectation of your characters power, and once you left the raid you could certainly feel less effective. For Firelands we attempted to fix that by nerfing the content instead of buffing players, but we nerfed the content difficulty all at one time, which was counterproductive for players who really didn’t need as severe a change as we made. With Dragon Soul we’re attempting to do the best of both by having a progressive nerf to the content, keeping player power constant while providing small increases in assistance over a long period of time, as well as allowing players to opt-out of the assistance by speaking to Lord Afrasastrasz.

We hope you continue to enjoy Dragon Soul, and that these changes encourage you to attempt a higher difficulty, or just keep pushing to down that next boss.

Today, Blizzard announced a PvP event to take place on the Public Test Realms on Friday, January 13th from 3-6pm PST. Here is the formal announcement made by Sapperwix on the PTR Forums:

Blizzard Implements New File Optimization Tech

Those who have played World of Warcraft throughout multiple expansions may remember the woes of hard drive space, especially with the Cataclysm expansion. For every new expansion, a file optimization tool attempts to reduce the size of the game on our hard drives.

Previously, this was used only for major expansions as the tool required approximately twice the hard drive space as the game itself. For some, this served as a roadblock to installing an expansion.

Today, Nethaera unveiled Blizzard's new file optimization technology. This will be implemented with 4.3.2 and will run with every patch. Here is the quote of the announcement as released on the forums:

With the 4.3.2 patch we’ll be testing some new file optimization tech. As you may be aware, with previous major expansion patches (2.0, 3.0, 4.0, etc.) we’ve carried out a time-consuming process to reorganize the game files currently installed on your hard drive to integrate all previous patch files, essentially ‘cleaning up’ what’s on your computer and reducing the full installation size. This process used to require an amount of free hard drive space double that of the entire installation size to complete, which is why we’ve reserved them for large expansion-sized patches.

The new tech we’re testing with the 4.3.2 PTR will process these cleanups with no additional hard drive space required beyond what the patch is adding. Because of that you may see them appear more frequently with patches.

While the cleanup is occurring you’ll see a specific message on the launcher informing you the process is currently taking place. If you encounter any issues with the new process please be sure to visit our support site at http://www.battle.net/support/.

WoW Patch 4.3 Hotfix Implemented Today

Today, Blizzard posted new hotfixes for Patch 4.3. No downtime or download was required for this hotfix.

Blizzard Announces Cross-Realm Raids in 4.3.2

For those who are connected by RealID, Blizzard is adding even more features to make sure you and your friends stay connected! With Patch 4.3, RealID friends have already been able to invite one another to a group cross-realm and use the LFG tool.
Blizzard announced yesterday that this functionality is being extended.

Beginning with patch 4.3.2, RealID friends will be able to add one another to a cross-realm group, just as before. However, with the new functionality, these friends will be able to:

Form a cross-realm raid and use the Raid Finder.
Zone into any Classic dungeon or raid and be placed into the same instance.
Queue together for battlegrounds.

It should be noted that this functionality will not work for the non-Raid Finder version of Normal or Heroic Dragon Soul. There is also no word yet as to whether any Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King content will be functional with this update. We will keep you up-to-date as any announcements or changes are made.

World of Warcraft 4.3 Patch

Cataclysm patch 4.3 Hour of Twilight has just been released today and with it, Deathwing’s reign of terror will finally come to an end!

This patch introduces a new raid, unexplored dungeons, a legendary rogue quest line, the latest raid tier armor sets, major story developments, the Transmogrification and Void Storage features, and much more! You can find the full patch notes in the forum.

We are working on getting Magelo Sync updated to work with this patch. We will get back to you as soon as it's ready!

Auto-complete database links & latest comments

Auto-complete database links

We just added a new feature to illustrate easily your forum post and comment with database links, in Magelo but also in any other website where our tooltips are used

Whenever you want to insert a link on an item, npc or anything from the database, just type the beginning of its name and press Ctrl+Space to auto complete the link. You will automatically get the link with the tooltip added in your post.

Database latest comments

You can now access all the Latest comments on the database! A direct link is available from the left menu, in the Community section. Add your contribution to the community now providing your own comment, in order to build together a better database outside of the game!
